Setting New Year's Resolutions

Setting New Year's resolutions isn’t a term I can be found using. Instead, I like to say, “Setting Intentions”. Below are the definitions. Please pick which fits you best.

Resolution: noun - A firm decision to do something.

Intention: noun - An aim that guides action; an objective.

Setting intentions can be a great way to improve your life and career. Here are three things to think about, three prompts, a launch pad, and episode to help you experience a positive transformation. The podcast episode is from a Free webinar hosted in July of 2023.

Setting Personal Goals: Things to Think About

1. Reflect on Your Goals: Take some time to reflect on your long-term and short-term goals. What do you want to achieve in your personal life and your career? Are there specific areas where you feel you need improvement?

2. Prioritize and Focus: It's important to set realistic and achievable goals. Prioritize your goals by importance and feasibility. It's often more effective to focus on a few key areas rather than spreading yourself too thin.

3. Accountability and Tracking Progress: Consider how you'll hold yourself accountable for your intentions. Will you share them with a friend or family member? Will you use a journal or an app to track your progress? Accountability can help keep you motivated.

Steps you can take for a Positive Transformation

1. Lifestyle-Integrated: Ensure that your intentions align with your lifestyle and values. Integrate your goals seamlessly into your daily routines and activities. This makes it more likely for your intentions to become sustainable habits.

2. Break Down Goals: Large goals can be daunting. Break them down into smaller, actionable steps. Consider listening to this Software update p.s. episode for inspiration. This makes the process more manageable and allows you to track your progress more effectively. For example, if your goal is to learn a new skill, create a list of specific tasks and milestones.

3. Consistency and Habits: Positive transformation often comes from consistent effort. Identify the habits and routines that will support your intentions. For instance, if your intention is to read more, set aside a specific time each day or week for reading. Be sure to check out podcast episode Habits, Goals and Boundaries.

Remember that setting intentions should be flexible, and it's okay to adjust them as circumstances change throughout the year. Regularly reassess your progress and be kind to yourself if you face setbacks. The key is to stay committed and keep working toward your goals, even if it takes time to see significant changes.
